The technical launch of M/Y “Sofia 3” follows extensive work by Lusben on various areas of the 42-metre Baglietto, from the exteriors – with a series of layout changes and the refurbishment of several structural parts – to mechanical modifications and the repainting of the hull and superstructure.
After her launch at Lusben’s Viareggio shipyard, “Sofia 3” is now ready for fitting-out work to begin.
The collaboration between the owners of this majestic superyacht built by Baglietto and the Viareggio-based Shipyard began a number of years ago. The owners contacted Lusben for the first time in 2018, commissioning the yard to carry out a major stern extension and install a pop-out transformer before the yacht’s move to the United States. In November 2022, the owners commissioned additional work requiring seven months, a period that was later extended to include a series of upgrades, confirming their full confidence in Lusben.
The work involved the complete repainting of the hull and superstructure in an elegant dark grey colour, with the novelty of ceilings featuring wood-like paint adding a touch of warmth and originality to the yacht. The layout of the sundeck in the bow has also been modified with a new sofa and a new teak deck, and all the outdoor ceilings have been refurbished with marine ply panelling. The layout in this area has been split into two modules that create a much more liveable solution, while the bow section has been significantly improved from both aesthetic and functional perspectives.
Other major operations included structural work to replace the metal plates in areas affected by water infiltration or corrosion, and the replacement of much of the glazing, including the wheelhouse windows.
“Sofia 3” is now ready for interior outfitting work based on designs by Viareggio-based firm La Mandragola.
